Autism is a center of attention both in research and the media. This
review is mainly concerned with mechanistic involvement of electron
transfer, reactive oxygen species, oxidative stress and antioxidants, in
addition to cell signaling and genetic aspects. Pollution from the
environment is a factor. The most sensitive stage is the fetus. The
neuronal network in the brain plays an important role. Antioxidants can
act in prevention or amelioration. Interaction between the various
aspects is addressed. The effect of vaccine is discussed.
