Visceral obesity in particular increases the risk of atherosclerosis owing to both insulin resistance and dyslipoproteinemia. Risk factors for atherosclerosis that could be exacerbated by obesity include hypertension and hyper lipidemia particularly hyper triglyceridemia which are risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease.
